Greeley Grindhouse Presents on Tuesday…

REPTILICUS_(3)

Greeley Grindhouse will play Tuesday, September 17th. So mark your calendar, you won’t want to miss “Reptilicus“. The fun begins at 7:20 p.m.

The original version, produced in Danish and directed by Danish director Poul Bang, was released in Denmark on February 25, 1961.

Reptilicus, brings to life a giant monster film about a fictional prehistoric reptile produced by American International Pictures and Saga Studios. Upon closer speculation it seems that it’s two distinctly different films produced by two different directors.

The story line goes a little something like this.

Danish miners dig up a section of a giant reptile’s tail from the frozen grounds in Lapland, where they are drilling. The section is flown to a Danish Aquarium in Copenhagen where they preserve the tail in a cold room for scientific study. But, due to mishandling, the room is left open and the tail begins to thaw. Imagine the scientist’s amazement when they returned to find that it’s  beginning the regeneration process.

Professor Martens, the man in charge of the Aquarium, dubs the reptilian species “Reptilicus”, and compares its regeneration abilities to that of other animals like earthworms and starfish.

Once the tail section completes regeneration, Reptilicus goes on a rampage from the Danish countryside to the panic-stricken streets of Copenhagen. You’ll have to watch the rest of the movie to see what happens!

The American producer-director, Sidney W. Pink, directed the American version, with an almost identical cast to the original. This version was initially deemed virtually awful and the American International Pictures would not release it. It required extensive rework by the film’s Danish-American screenwriter, Ib Melchior, before finally releasing it in America in 1962.

Mac Bell will once again host this great evening and encourage the heckling on Smack TV. Grab your appetizers and beverages and get prepared for an evening of fun.

Have a great week, and we’ll see ya there!

Greeley Grindhouse Presents…

DeathstalkerposterGreeley Grindhouse presents “Deathstalker” Thursday, August 15th, beginning at 8:00 p.m. You’ll enjoy this Conan rip off that offers sorcery and sword fights!

What’s this grindhouse movie about? A witch sends the  warrior, Deathstalker, on a quest to find a chalice, an amulet, and a sword, two of which are held by the wicked sorcerer Munkar, played by Bernard Erhard. Deathstalker finds the sword easily and sets out to Munkar’s castle.

On his journey, Deathstalker meets a warrior named Ogrhis (Richard Brooker) who informs him of a tournament. Munkar has invited warriors to participate in contests until only one is left standing. And what does the winner get? Munkar’s kingdom. Along the way to the tournament, the pair meet Kaira, a female warrior (Lana Clarkson) who agrees to accompany them on their journey.

Arriving at Munkar’s castle, Deathstalker and the other warriors are invited to get drunk and rape Munkar’s harem slaves, including Princess Codille (Barbi Benton). Deathstalker isn’t to excited about the proposition and instead rescues Princess Codille. But, only briefly as Munkar takes her back.

The tournament continues for several days and Deathstalker searches for the other two artifacts at night. By then, almost all the other contestants have killed each other, and Deathstalker faces Munkar for the battle that will truly test their skills.

The film is noteworthy for launching the career of Lana Clarkson. Clarkson went on to work with executive producer Roger Corman on the films Barbarian Queen and Barbarian Queen II: The Empress Strikes Back. She also guest starred in an episode of the television show Black Scorpion.

Mac Bell is once again hosting this awesome and entertaining event. Grab your friends, cold beers and a bite to eat while watching the movie.

Greeley Avenue Bar and Grill Gives Back

One of the continual things that sets Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill apart from the rest is their continual involvement with the community.

Last year Jon and Rainer hosted an event at Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill called “Chief Joseph Parents and Friends Night Out”.  And, not only did they host this fun-filled evening, but they donated fifty percent of the night’s proceeds to the PTA. What did this mean exactly? Chief Joseph Elementary raised funds to hire additional staff.

This year Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill is working with Paula Harkin and the event “Pints to Paska 10K”. Paula gave the bar a shout out on Facebook saying ” Our thanks to Greeley Ave Bar & Grill for allowing Pints to Paskta 10K to stage at their location. We appreciate your community involvement and support.”

If you’re interested in more information concerning the Pints to Pasta 10K visit the website.
